It can be hard to find good children’s books dealing with divorce.

We hope you find this list helpful. If you’re experiencing a divorce, your children can find some comfort in reading about situations similar to their own. Have another book to recommend? We’d love to hear about it! Let us know in the comments section below.

Great list of books! I’m glad there’s divorce books for older kids too, which is what I was looking for. My daughter is 13, and most of the divorce books I’ve been able to find so far have been for younger kids. Thanks

I would love for you to add this book to your list. It is a chapter book for 9-12 year olds about a girl who is dealing with her parents divorce. She deals with real internal feelings and struggles that many kids have. There has been very positive response from teachers/parents as it opens up dialogue about this difficult issue.

My book below was recently published. MOM, DAD, AND EVERYONE ELSE is picture book about divorce. Instead of focusing on the sadness of divorce, it concentrates on the potential positive outcomes such as new and exciting experiences and people in the child’s life. I truly believe it fills a gap in children’s literature about the subject that better reflects my own experiences. I hope this helps anyone in need!

I would be grateful if you added my book for 6-10 year olds on shared custody, Where Am I Sleeping Tonight?-(A Story of Divorce), Boulden Publishing, 2008. I am a retired teacher who taught for 35 years and felt my students’ pain from divorce. One excellent review I received is my favorite because I believe it touches on my goal of giving hope to families and helping children understand they are not alone. You’ll find it here: http://divorceministry4kids.com/2011/where-am-i-sleeping-tonight-by-carol-gordon-ekster-a-review/
Thank you! And thanks for this great resource.
